MixtKids

One Mom's journey to raise empowered mixed-race children

Without even trying…

So I started a new playgroup.  My last one was purposefully intended to attract mixed race children and it worked out great.  Things got a little hard with logistics and I was tired of paying Meetup.com’s fees, so the group sort of faded out.

But now, a year later, it’s on again.  This time with new faces and no real intention of making it a Mixtkid group.  Guess what?  I didn’t even have to try.  Mixtkids are everywhere in my neighborhood!  In our group we have Caucasian, Hispanic, Black and a potential Filipino (they haven’t officially joined).  The thing is, there’s only 4 moms and babies in the group.  Now talk about diverse!

I know this is southern California, so that may play a role, but I’m wondering.  Are you noticing more ethnic diversity and multiracial growth occuring in your area too?  Let me know.  It would be interesting to compare the West Coast to other areas of the country.
