In Depth: Black in America 2

Black in America 2

CNN continues its investigation of the most challenging issues facing African-Americans with “Black in America 2.” Soledad O’Brien reports on people who are using ground-breaking solutions to transform the black experience.

WEDNESDAY 9P ET | THURSDAY 8P ET

Black in America 2 will air immediately following President Obama’s News Conference.  Part 2 is slated to be a little less bleak and more positive, with innovative ideas and solutions from across the country, all billed to “improve” the lives of Black America.  Although part one was a bit bleak, it wasn’t untrue is all aspects, but defintely NOT telling of the true range of Black Americans and Americans in general.

Personally, I felt Soledad was hammered a bit too strong for the first series, but she has this segment to win back some of the angry folks out there.  Mixtkids wasn’t up and running quite yet for the first series, so I’m  looking forward to seeing the segment and posting.  Stay tuned…

Oh, if you’re asking yourself, “why does this Hispanic woman even care about Black in America?”  Well, my girls may be MixtKids, but if they could only check one box and one box only, they would check African American since their father is African American and their surname is such.  Thankfully, they haven’t had to “choose” a side yet and hopefully won’t ever have to.

Speaking of their Latino side, I’m definitely looking forward to Latino in America premiering in October.  Soledad will host that segment as well.  She’s really got this multicultural thing down, don’t she?  O’Brien says “Latino in America” will focus on themes common to Latinos from various countries with different histories, and of different races, political and religious backgrounds — and on what they say links them as “Latinos.”  Here’s a promo.  Make sure and check this series out too!
